Description
The role is to provide comprehensive casework management and administrative support to ensure the effectiveness of the SEN following the requirements of the Children’s & Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.
Responsibility
To undertake the statutory assessment process of an EHC needs assessment and the issuing of EHC Plans within twenty weeks as per the statutory deadlines, which is following The Children and Families Act 2014, SEN Code of Practice January 2015 and relevant caselaw.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Degree level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of relevant continued professional development
- A postgraduate professional qualification in a relevant area is desirable
- Advanced – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media and CRM.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements - Criteria to be Evaluated at the Shortlisting Stage.
Successful candidates will have:
- Solid experience undertaking the statutory assessment process of an EHC needs assessment and issuing EHC Plans per the statutory deadlines.
- Knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEN Code of Practice (January 2015), and relevant caselaw.
- Knowledge of the complex cases and those involving appeal hearings and other legal proceedings.
- Knowledge of the case management system.
- Experience in monitoring and reviewing all cases daily to ensure that statutory timescales are met.
- Experience in providing support on casework issues involving written and oral communication with parents and various professionals, including school staff, Educational Psychologists, Medical Officers, Social Workers and LA Officers.
- Able to work with the SEN Team to comply with statutory deadlines and transfer of pupils with EHCPS from primary school to secondary school, infant to junior school and those transferring to Post 16 educational provision.
- Knowledge of liaising with other authorities on placing Children Looked After, children and young people moving in or out of the Boroughs with Education, Health and Care Plan.
- Able to respond to queries for placement in the Bi-Borough Mainstream and Special School from other Authorities.
- Experience monitoring Annual Review procedures ensures each pupil's EHCP is reviewed annually.
- Able to effectively and efficiently commission suitable educational provision and school placement for children and young people with an EHCP.
- Able to ensure that EHC Plans are person-centred, outcome-focused, and based on the evidence from the child or young person, their families
- Able to act as the first point of contact for a wide range of written and oral queries from internal and external customers
- Able to maintain an up-to-date knowledge relating to SEN casework, including changes to national legislation and departmental policies
- Able to attend and contribute to working parties to review, develop and improve procedures
