Our local government clients in Camden, London, are seeking an Early Years Practitioner to provide high-quality, integrated day care and early education for children from birth to 7 years within a multi-disciplinary team, in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. To contribute to planning and support the delivery of a high-quality early years curriculum, daily, weekly, and termly planning to meet individual children's needs and interests, and record-keeping to track each child's development. There is a requirement to lift and assist with toileting and changing, and to help transfer from seating to mobility aids.  Work may also involve implementing individual movement programmes under the direction of other professionals.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to assist with first-aid provision and comfort sick or injured children. In emergencies, they will need to liaise with the designated first-aider, senior staff, and medical professionals, and accompany children to the hospital or doctor's as necessary. Any basic medical procedures that may need to be performed will be covered in training. Must be able to work to the shift pattern required by the setting, falling between 8 am and 6 pm.

Qualifications – Essential

  • GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Recognised education/childcare or Early Years qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 / 3 and paediatric first aid.
  • Training Record(s)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.

Criteria for Shortlisting - About You - What We're Looking for in the Ideal Candidate:

  • Working with children 0 – 7 years
  • To promote children's development within a secure, safe and stimulating environment, and with reference to good practice curriculum guidance appropriate to the ages and stages of development of the children.
  • To provide input to the assessment of children's overall development, including carrying out observations, recording children's achievements, and maintaining developmental records to a high standard.
  • To support colleagues in undertaking their responsibilities as key workers to a specific group of children within the centre, and the smooth transition from home to centre and from centre to school.
  • To effectively manage the behaviour of the children in line with procedural guidance and to implement planned interventions for children with additional needs.
  • To provide appropriate physical care in areas of washing, toileting, changing, feeding, dressing, comforting and administering medication.
  • To work with due regard to Child Protection procedures and to report matters of concern to the centre managers.
  • To assist with the organisation of outings for children's interest, education and enjoyment and about safety.

Compliance Requirements

  • 5 Years References
  • DBS required for this role- including Children's Barred List Check.
  • Willing to engage in the Pre-Engagement Questionnaire and mandatory pre-screening application process.
