Description
Our local government clients in Caerphilly County, Wales, require a Teaching Assistant (LEI) to work under the instruction of the SENCO and teaching and senior staff. Your role, within an agreed system of supervision, is crucial in implementing work programmes with individuals and groups, both in and out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Monitor and evaluate pupils' responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives. Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required to the Teacher on pupil achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence. Be responsible for maintaining and updating records and contributing to reviews of systems and records as required. Undertake marking of pupils' work and accurately record achievement and progress. Promote positive values, attitudes, and good pupil behaviour by promptly addressing conflicts and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience.
- Appropriate first aid training is Desirable
- Welsh speaker is Desirable
- Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements - Criteria to be Evaluated at the Shortlisting Stage.
- Training in the relevant strategies, e.g. literacy and curriculum learning area, dyslexia, ICT, Maths, English, etc
- Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs (ASD, ADHD, S&L, etc).
- Full working knowledge of relevant national and foundation phase curriculum and other relevant learning programmes and strategies.
- Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes.
- Advanced and Effective use of ICT to support learning.
- Experience of working with children with special education needs.
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
- Ability to relate well with children and adults.
- Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities, as well as your own position within these.
