Description
Our local government clients in East London require a Part-Time Teaching Assistant to work 10 hours per week, supporting Children and Young People during an after-school homework club session at the Children and Family Hub. To promote and encourage Children and Young people to participate in various activities at the Children and Family Hub. To prepare the learning environment and materials in advance. To work alongside families to support the Children and Young People's learning needs. To promote Children and Family Hub services. To ensure registers are completed alongside any other relevant documentation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
To oversee and support the Children and Young People with their homework. To supervise the Children and Young People during the session. To encourage and maintain a positive, nurturing learning environment, helping to assist Children and Young People's progress and to provide feedback. Be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection,
reporting all concerns to an appropriate person, supporting and contributing to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Children and Family Hub, promoting high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in accordance with
with the Children and Family Hub's behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Level 3 NVQ in Education or equivalent
- Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements - Criteria to be Evaluated at the Shortlisting Stage.
- Experience of working with children and Young people in an educational Setting
- The ability to form and maintain relationships with Parents, Children and Young People
- The ability to work as part of a team
- The ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role
- Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise between conflicting demands
- To follow the policies and procedures of the Local Authority
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
- Resilient, optimistic, forward, and enthusiastic about making a difference
- Capacity to inspire, motivate and challenge children and young people

- 3 years' reference, including current employment
