We are looking for a Housing Arrears Recovery Officer to effectively manage significant risks to successful tenancies, including non-payment of rent and anti-social behaviour. Rent Collection & Arrears Recovery Officer will ensure that necessary and proportional enforcement action is taken when all reasonable and appropriate interventions and support measures have been exhausted:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Relevant professional level qualification or equivalent experience
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Able to demonstrate experience in taking ownership of debt cases, making
arrangements, pursuing payment, taking matters through the debt recovery process and
reducing the overall debt exposure
· Experience in making outbound calls to debtors to facilitate full payment or make
payment arrangements in line with existing strategies
· Ability to provide advice, information and assistance with enquiries relating to Debt
collection
· Experience in maintaining an accurate, appropriate portfolio of debt cases and producing,
interpreting, and analysing reports
· Ability to maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to
ensure debt strategy is being achieved
· Experience in leasing with Audit and Investigations and the Department of Work &
Pensions in fraud cases
· Able to ensure all cases are continually monitored through following up on arrangements
that have been defaulted on
· Experience in liaising with and working closely with Debt Collection Agencies to ensure
the maximum return on the recovery of debts
· Able to understand the needs of a diverse range of customers, and a commitment to
securing the best possible outcomes for them
· Able to consider the feasibility of writing off debts in line with policy and procedures and
make recommendations to management
· Ability to effectively interpret a range of different legislation and procedures and clearly
explain the information to customers
· Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a “total team” culture where there is
a shared responsibility to achieve team objectives
