About the Role

Are you an experienced Housing Officer ready to make a visible difference across a busy general needs patch? This is a rewarding interim opportunity to take ownership of approximately 800 properties, build trusted relationships with residents and use your housing management expertise to resolve issues, strengthen communities and improve neighbourhood services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build trusted resident relationships: Visit new tenants in their homes, explain tenancy conditions clearly, identify vulnerabilities or additional needs and create positive early engagement.

• Be visible in the community: Maintain a strong presence through estate inspections, customer surgeries, home visits and proactive follow-up, helping residents feel listened to and supported.

• Resolve complex tenancy issues: Manage a varied caseload including succession, assignment, discretionary rehousing, management transfers, tenancy breaches, illegal occupation and anti-social behaviour.

• Drive service improvements: Carry out tenancy audits, PCFRAs/PEEPs and regular estate inspections, identifying opportunities to improve housing standards and working collaboratively with internal teams.

• Support residents who need it most: Work closely with vulnerable tenants, make appropriate referrals and help ensure residents receive the right support at the right time.

• Use your legal and enforcement expertise: Prepare and serve notices, including Notices Seeking Possession and Notices to Quit; prepare court cases, draft witness statements and represent in legal proceedings where required. Knowledge of the Housing Regulator's consumer standards and Awaab's Law is desirable.

About You

• Proven experience: At least two years' housing management experience, ideally within a general needs or social housing environment.

• Confident communicator: Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage sensitive, complex or challenging resident matters professionally.

• Strong housing knowledge: A sound Understanding of tenancy management, anti-social behaviour legislation, enforcement processes and safeguarding principles.

• Resident-focused mindset: Proactive, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and achieving positive outcomes for residents.
