We are recruiting a Head of School Improvement, Lifelong Learning and Skills -; to promote the plan for raising standards and eliminating achievement gaps across the primary and secondary phases and securing high-performing schools:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C)or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Degree in a subject relevant to the role or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge,
skills and experience.
· Relevant professional qualification at a postgraduate level
· QCF level 7 in leadership and management
· Project management qualification or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills
and experience
· Advanced user – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance about working with and
protecting children and young people.
· Knowledge of the statutory roles and responsibilities of the Local Authorities regarding
schools and education
· Expert knowledge and high-level experience in supporting and challenging schools
· A thorough knowledge and understanding of the Primary and Secondary/13-19
Curriculum
· Expert knowledge of school improvement and effectiveness, including the characteristics
and systems of effective schools and school evaluation linked with the Ofsted inspection
framework.
· Knowledge and understanding of partnerships and working within and between schools
and other agencies
· Successful experience in leading and managing teams at a senior level in the primary
and secondary phases or within a Local Authority setting.
· Success in raising standards and securing school improvement.
· Experience quality improvement and working to Ofsted standards, including using
performance data and lesson observation.
· Good track record of working closely with and actively engaging Headteachers and
senior school leaders
· Successful experience in managing, motivating and challenging other skilled
professionals
· Experience in meeting deadlines, setting targets and managing change
· Good interpersonal skills with the ability and experience to enthuse and motivate others
· Ability to both work as part of a team and on own initiative
· Ability to respond flexibly to changing demands and manage own workload
· Good influencing/negotiating skills
· Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
· Full understanding and commitment to the Equal Opportunities Policy
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Five Years of Reference
· Enhanced DBS required
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
