Our local government clients in Haringey, Greater London, are seeking a Civil Enforcement Officer to ensure the effective enforcement of parking regulations within the borough's Special Parking Areas and Controlled Parking Zones. To be an ambassador for promoting good relations with all members of the public and to ensure that the borough is represented professionally and positively.  

Responsibilities

To enforce parking and footway restrictions as required.    

To patrol a specified beat/area, the required number of times per shift, as instructed by the parking team leader.

To operate a handheld computer to issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) to all vehicles contravening parking regulations.

To advise and assist members of the public in relation to the Parking Enforcement policy and primary objectives, ensuring excellent standards of customer care.

To authorise vehicles for removal in accordance with the removal criteria.

To report faulty or missing street furniture, defects to parking lines and signs, and abandoned vehicles.

Qualifications – Essential

  • GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • The City & Guilds 1950 Parking Enforcement or NVQ level 2 in controlling parking areas (desirable).
  • A full driving license (desirable).  Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.

Criteria for Shortlisting - About You - What We're Looking for in the Ideal Candidate:

  • 12 months' experience of working face-to-face with the public (essential).
  • 12 months' experience working as a Civil Enforcement Officer (essential).
  • Communicating clearly and tactfully when dealing with the public (essential).
  • Dealing with customers who may be upset, angry or aggressive (essential).
  • The ability to write clearly and legibly when making manual records (essential).
  • Be able to use handheld computers to input, check and update information (essential).
  • Basic numeracy (essential).
  • Be physically fit and able to patrol on foot in all weather conditions, and to work weekends and evenings (essential)

  • Enhanced DBS & barred list check
  • Willing to engage in the Pre-Engagement Questionnaire and mandatory pre-screening application process.
