Our local government clients in Haringey, Greater London, are seeking an Early Years Assistant to play a vital role in shaping a nurturing environment where children aged 1 to 5 can thrive through high-quality care, learning, and play.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to children's personal needs and implement relevant personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters, ensuring clear daily duties.
  • Supervise and support children to ensure their safety and access to play and learning.
  • Establish strong relationships with children by acting as a role model and being aware of their needs, responding appropriately.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children.
  • Encourage children to interact with others and engage in activities.
  • Encourage children to act independently as appropriate.

Qualifications – Essential

  • GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Recognised education/childcare or Early Years qualification (NVQ Level 2) and paediatric first aid.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  •  Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.

Criteria for Shortlisting - About You

  • Working with children 0 – 5.
  • Working with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Inclusive practice of children with special needs.
  • Working in partnership with parents and other professionals.
  • Appropriate knowledge of First Aid.
  • Use of technology- Good ICT skills.
  • Ability to relate to all children and adults.
  • Working as a member of a team.
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning.
  • Good childcare practice.

Compliance Requirements

  • 5 Years References, including current employment
  • DBS required for this role- including Children's Barred List Check.
  • Willing to engage in the Pre-Engagement Questionnaire and mandatory pre-screening application process.
