Our local government clients in Haringey, Greater London, are seeking an Early Years Assistant to play a vital role in shaping a nurturing environment where children aged 1 to 5 can thrive through high-quality care, learning, and play.
Responsibilities
- Attend to children's personal needs and implement relevant personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters, ensuring clear daily duties.
- Supervise and support children to ensure their safety and access to play and learning.
- Establish strong relationships with children by acting as a role model and being aware of their needs, responding appropriately.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children.
- Encourage children to interact with others and engage in activities.
- Encourage children to act independently as appropriate.
Qualifications – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Recognised education/childcare or Early Years qualification (NVQ Level 2) and paediatric first aid.
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.

- Working with children 0 – 5.
- Working with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Inclusive practice of children with special needs.
- Working in partnership with parents and other professionals.
- Appropriate knowledge of First Aid.
- Use of technology- Good ICT skills.
- Ability to relate to all children and adults.
- Working as a member of a team.
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Knowledge of child development and learning.
- Good childcare practice.
Compliance Requirements
- 5 Years References, including current employment
- DBS required for this role- including Children's Barred List Check.
- Willing to engage in the Pre-Engagement Questionnaire and mandatory pre-screening application process.
