Description
Our local government clients in East London require a Social Worker - Children Looked After, to provide a high-quality and effective social work service, promptly responding to the needs of children and their families within statutory guidelines. To assess need, plan and deliver focused intervention to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. Guidance, support, and supervision will be provided in line with the individual's experience and capabilities, as well as our Supervision Policy.
Your key responsibilities will include:
To undertake interviews, observation and gather information from children, families and other agencies. To analyse, summarise and evaluate this information to provide a holistic assessment of a child's needs.
*Newly qualified Staff at grade P01 will undertake all work with support, close supervision and guidance and will have a reduced caseload. Upon successful completion of the ASYE, Social Workers will automatically move to P02*.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registered
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and CRM.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements - Criteria to be Evaluated at the Shortlisting Stage.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development, parenting capacity, environmental factors and risk and protective factors.
- Ability to summarise, analyse and evaluate complex information.
- Knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance and the London Child Protection Procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies, and commitment to the systemic approach and Social Learning Theory interventions.
- Committed to the principles of reclaiming Social Work.
- Ability to formulate and implement effective social work interventions.
- Ability to write concise reports and have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy and the skills necessary to work with information management systems and produce good-quality data in a variety of formats.
- The ability to work with word processing packages at a speed commensurate with the responsibilities of the role.
- Ability to create a rapport and build relationships with children and parents/carers.
- Knowledge and understanding of statutory frameworks and guidance for children's social work.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage own workload and be accountable for case work with children and families.
- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of key children's agencies.
- An understanding of relationship management and the capacity to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships.
- Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to communities from different racial and cultural backgrounds, and Equal Opportunities.
- To thrive in a complex and demanding environment.
