Our local government clients are recruiting a Support Worker to work various shift patterns. To enable service users with individual needs to improve their quality of life and be part of their communities. To promote independence, wellbeing, rights, responsibilities and choice among service users.

Work pattern available - 0700 – 14.30 – 14.30 – 22.00 – 22.00 – 07.00

 Responsibility

To provide care and support to enable the individuals who use services to live as independently as they wish.

Qualification – Essential

  • Previous experience in the care profession.
  • NVQ 2/3 or willingness to work towards.
  • Basic – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Knowledge and commitment to making safeguarding personal and promoting wellbeing, co-production and welfare of vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide care, ensuring personal dignity is maintained.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or under own direction.
  • Able to demonstrate skills and knowledge relevant to food control, health, safety and public health functions
  • Maintaining good health and hygiene, administering medications and personal care, e.g. dressing, washing, shaving and going to the toilet
  •  Able to accompany service users to leisure time, activities and cultural events in the community
  • Able to assist service users in keeping in touch with family and friends and making new friends.
  • Able to carry out or assist in cooking and other domestic/cleaning tasks.
  • Able to follow and review care and support plans with the service user and record progress of plans.
  • Able to assist in the delivery of support to service users who may present behavioural challenges.
  • I.T. skills, particularly the use of Microsoft Word and the ability to record and send information electronically.
  • Able to maintain service user records through NCHA’s IT systems or paper records, sharing confidential information with work colleagues and other relevant people as appropriate to provide consistent care and support.
  • Work on a rota/shift system, including Bank Holidays and weekends, which may involve night-time working and sleeping-in duties.

  • A current, clean driving licence.

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • 5 years' reference including current employment
  • Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child & adult)
  • A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
