Description
Provide high-level, expert professional/technical advice and guidance in Building Control to colleagues, managers, and partner agencies to contribute to achieving the objectives and priorities. Responsible for advising the public on building control matters and processing applications under statutory Building Regulations.
Responsibility
Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations. Advise the public on the requirements of Building Regulations and other related legislation. Process applications under Building Regulations, liaise with and offer guidance to applicants and draft determinations. Carry out inspections to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Degree in construction or equivalent qualification, preferably with a Band C Building Control Surveyor Registration (BSR) qualification.
- Full corporate membership status with a recognised professional body such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
- Minimum of seven years' experience in Building Control.
- Advanced – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media and CRM.

Successful candidates will have:- Experience in building control and have recently held a senior building control surveyor role- essential
- Significant experience in building control.
- Significant stakeholder liaison experience.
- Advanced IT skills.
- Solid Report writing skills.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance and building control regulations.
- A command of written and spoken English is required for adequate performance of the role.
- Inspect dangerous structures during regular working hours.
- Participate in the out-of-hours dangerous structures rota.
- Perform site inspections and major licensed structures, assess structural adequacy, and draft licence renewals.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and correspondence.
- Support the training of Trainee and Assistant Surveyors.
- Understand the objectives of the Building Regulations and the underlying legislation.
- Familiar with the Building Safety Act and its impact on the construction industry.
