Description
As part of the rent collection service for tenants, the officer will be responsible for delivering effective, proactive, customer-focused collection services. Working in line with national and corporate policies, procedures and statutory legislation, the post holder must understand and be responsive to customers’ needs, always presenting a positive and professional image to the customer whilst ensuring effective engagement with vulnerable/challenging customers.
Responsibility
Responsibilities will include working effectively as part of a team and contacting tenants in rent arrears to assist them in setting up payment arrangements and income maximisation. This may require cross-team work with relevant partners.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Business administration/professional collection/assessment qualification
- Advanced – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media and CRM.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements - Criteria to be Evaluated at the Shortlisting Stage.
Successful candidates will be:
- Experience in collection/assessment-related roles.
- Experience/successful track record of providing collection/financial assessment services.
- Adaptable and keen to be part of a pooled resource across the assessment hub.
- Experience processing income-related and other claims, changes in circumstance and other enquiries within a collection/assessment-related environment, delivering high-quality services.
- Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate complex matters effectively to customers.
- Advanced IT/Technical skills and knowledge.
- Evidence of continuous professional development of skills and knowledge.
- A good understanding of collection, income/financial-related assessments and benefit services.
- A good knowledge of best practices in collecting/financial assessments of income-related and other reductions within a local authority environment.
- A good understanding of welfare benefits and best practice approaches to aligning decision making with value for money principles
