Description

We urgently need a Catering Assistant for a public sector client in North West London. This role is crucial as you will be a vital member of the resource centre team, preparing light meals and reheating frozen meals for the service users. Your role will be instrumental in considering dietary and cultural needs and the specific disabilities related to individual service users.

Responsibility

Provide a balanced menu that meets clients' cultural/dietary needs and vary the choice within the constraints of the budget. Ensure that the food/drinks required for today's menu are correctly reheated and attractively served using portion control. Ensure that the kitchen and dining area, utensils/equipment, and food are kept clean, tidy, and safe and that health and safety standards, including the safety of service users, are maintained.

  Qualification – Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Sound Basic Education
  • Certificate in Food Hygiene - Food Management Training

Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience in menu planning appropriate to the needs of the client group
  • Experience working as part of a diverse staff team.
  • Time management and work planning skills.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Good financial budgeting skills.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to work in an environment of change and innovation
  • Commitment to a team approach.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act and its application in catering.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policies.
  • Candidates require a complete work history with no unexplained gaps to apply for this role.

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Candidates must complete pre-employment checks before submission for this post.
  • Enhanced CRB within the last 12 months – on the Disclosure & Barring Service update system
  • Able to provide references covering the last five years.
