- Our client in East London is recruiting a Housing Paralegal – To provide quality and responsive legal services to clients and to have responsibility for a personal caseload of routine and some non-routine matters.
Responsibility
Maintain a caseload of routine and some non-routine matters under supervision and provide clients with clear and accurate legal advice. Undertake fundamental advocacy in courts and tribunals as part of the team. Attend court with counsel on own cases and those of others in Legal Services. Deliver briefs and papers to courts and barristers' chambers and issue/file documents with courts.
Qualification – Essential
· GCSE/O Level, 5 GCSE including English & maths
· Law degree or similar legal qualification
· Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Legal Databases and social media:
Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential
· Recent experience working in a legal office.
· Able to demonstrate experience in drafting legal documentation.
· Solid experience in using a case management system.
· Knowledge and experience in undertaking a caseload of routine and some non-routine
matters.
· Knowledge and understanding of General Litigation, Housing, Employment, Procurement
and contracts, etc.
· Experience providing quality legal services to clients across several sectors, including
housing.
· Proven ability to manage a caseload of routine legal matters and some non-routine issues.
· Experienced in representing organisations in courts and tribunals.
· Ability to comply with practice management and other professional standards.
· Able to demonstrate knowledge in using case management systems effectively.
· Able to demonstrate a track record of at least 1200 chargeable hours per annum.
· Experience in achieving chargeable hours targets.
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
· Ability to embrace and implement the Equalities Policy.
· Advanced IT literate.
· Experience in providing legal services to clients to agreed standards and adhering to client
care policies and initiatives.
· Understanding local government's workings and the issues affecting a multicultural inner--
City area.
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference- necessary.
· Available for immediate start.
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
