- Our client in Bath and North East Somerset is recruiting an Assistant Environmental Health Officer– to improve the suitability and condition of housing and management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs):
Responsibility
The role will be proactive enforcement work in the rented sector. There is a focus on residential property inspections:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSE/O Level, 5 GCSE including English & maths
· Degree in Environmental Health accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental
Health
· Advanced – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media and CRM.
Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential
· Ability to handle evidence, records and data, ensuring integrity and freedom of information
are observed.
· Experience in preparing cases and evidence for legal proceedings.
· Experience in appearing and giving expert evidence at Court, Tribunal or other statutory
Hearings.
· Ability to take the lead in enforcement and regulation of inspection.
· Experience in carrying out air quality consultancy and assessments.
· Proven in-depth and current knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and control and
its proper practical implementation by environmental health specialists.
· Experience in tackling non-compliance, sub-standard work
· Proven ability to confidently use technology and software, including browsers, databases,
word, and spreadsheets.
· Able to drive a vehicle and possess a full driving licence currently valid in the United
Kingdom.
· Proven ability to establish and maintain a cooperative and team-based approach with all
colleagues.
· Knowledge in research and collaboration to perform business responsibilities on Air Quality.
· Ability to work well under pressure and in situations that may become challenging.
· Ability to work flexibly to meet competing needs and demands.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally & in writing to a wide range of people.
