We are looking for a Housing Officer to provide visible, accessible housing management services on the ground to customers renting homes, owner occupiers and shared owners:
Responsibility
To provide a high level of customer service with an emphasis on getting things right the first time, keeping promises and taking ownership of the customer demands and requests. Promote self-sufficiency in our services while offering support to those that need extra help:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· BTEC level or demonstrable ability to operate at this level
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Knowledge of housing legislation, in particular, an understanding of Landlord and Tenant law
and other legal requirements relevant to managing homes and neighbourhoods.
· Relevant experience working in a partnership/multi-agency setting and multi-disciplinary
team.
· Understanding housing legislation with nuisance, neighbour disputes and racial harassment.
· Ability to effectively interview customers through active listening and negotiation skills.
· Experience working largely autonomously to manage workload and prioritise tasks on-site
and in the office.
· Experience working with customers and championing their views and feedback.
· Must be able to find creative ways of delivering results beyond what is expected wherever
possible.
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, with a wide range of
people, including Councillors, contractors and other agencies.
· Demonstrate the ability to be solution-focused, taking responsibility and action to promote
excellent customer service, with a ‘Can Do’ attitude.
· Demonstrate the ability to work as a team towards common goals, creating a sense of team
spirit.
· Highly self-motivated with the ability to plan work effectively without supervision.
· Ability to work ‘on the go’ using mobile technology.
· Ability to facilitate online customer engagement activities.
· The ability to deal with potentially complex situations within a busy workload, mitigate risks
to customers and organisation, and achieve positive outcomes.
· Flexible approach with the ability to respond effectively to changing circumstances.
· Travel between sites will be a requirement for this role.
· Requirement to attend meetings and other activities outside of regular working hours.
