We are recruiting an Advisory Teacher – Secondary to contribute to the coordination of SEND provision in mainstream schools by providing training, advice and support to schools and direct interventions to children and young people:
Responsibility
To provide consultation, advice and training on the Code of Practice for identifying and assessing children with SEND to maintained schools. To represent the SEND Support Team in settings, working alongside school and health practitioners in modelling good practice and appropriate strategies/resources to support children with a range of SEND and other vulnerabilities:
Qualification – Essential
· 3 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Degree or equivalent
· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
· Evidence of additional training in SEN and disability provision
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, CRM and Social
Media:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Significant experience working in an educational setting
· Experience working as a SENCO or planning effectively to meet the needs of children
with SEN and disabilities
· Knowledge and understanding of the range of special educational needs and how these
maybe identified and supported
· Knowledge and relevant training in approaches recommended for young children with
SEND, e.g. Makaton, PECS, Attention Autism
· Knowledge of current legislation and policies in the area of SEN disabilities and inclusion,
including Early Support and Early Help Assessments
· Working knowledge and commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities
· An understanding of planning and assessment procedures within the curriculum
· The ability to analyse and evaluate outcomes
· Knowledge of best practices in responding to pupils with Special Educational Needs and
behaviour, emotional and social needs in mainstream schools and special schools
· Knowledge of best practices in responding to pupils with Special Educational Needs
· Ability to follow specified processes to ensure consistent service delivery to all customers
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Five Years of Reference
· Enhanced DBS
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
