We are recruiting a Junior Civil Litigation Lawyer to deal with various civil matters, including disrepair, homelessness, anti-social behaviour, unauthorised occupation, employment and miscellaneous litigation, conducting advocacy and accustomed to working at pace in a busy team:
Responsibility
To provide legal advice and undertake a varied caseload for non-complex legal matters arising from the business and external clients:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Law Degree, Solicitor, Barrister, and hold a Practising certificate
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Solid experience in advising, interpreting legal issues, preparing written advice and
conducting legal casework
· Ability to undertake advocacy at tribunals and courts
· Knowledge of the relevant legislation, standards, national policies and legal procedures,
particularly in public sector work.Ability to understand risks as it relates to legal matters
· Knowledge of preparing legal comments for committee and other papers and providing
research and guidance as required
· Ability to research, draft and prepare legal proceedings, witness statements, and court
documents
· Advanced user of IT systems able to ensure the maintenance of precedent documents
for the effective provisional routine and non-complex work
· Experience in liaising with departmental service heads and senior officers as necessary,
liaising with members of the central government
· Experience in assisting management in effectively using human, financial and other
resources in the Team
· Ability to achieve the time recording target
· Ability to represent the Legal Services at working parties, panels and other meetings with
officers and external bodies
· Ability to ensure that all key dates are diarised in the team diary so that Court and
Tribunal timetables are met
· Experience and knowledge of local government law and administration and best value
· Ability to understand the principles of client care and experience working in a Lexcel-
accredited office
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
