We are recruiting a Category Manager to lead the delivery of significant and complex tenders of high-value, high-risk tenders, using specialist knowledge and expertise to apply market research to benchmarking and inform your procurement strategy:
Responsibility
To design and manage quotations and tenders to a successful conclusion, delivering the required service and commercial outcomes within agreed timescales while enhancing the reputation of the Procurement Service and the business as a knowledgeable and astute commercial operator:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· A graduate degree or equivalent/appropriate experience and have or be working
towards
CIPS level 5/6 or equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience.
· Evidence of continuous professional development.
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media, and CRM:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Deep knowledge and proven ability to support the commercial Procurement needs of the
business
· Demonstrate a high degree of commercial awareness and technical expertise across a
wide range of different services
· Deep negotiation skills, allowing stakeholders to support given strategies
· Proven analytical thinking to govern product category and the category's performance to
competitors
· Experience in leading high-value and high-risk tenders through all stages, from initiation
to contract mobilisation
· Competent in using your sector knowledge, research and expertise to ensure you
understand the product or service
· Able to work collaboratively with legal and other subject matter experts to develop the
form of contract, special terms and conditions, including KPI's
· Experience in meeting product managers to discuss the products they manage within the
category
· Knowledge in preparing a procurement strategy that describes your procurement findings
and recommended approach
· Competent in ensuring that specifications and desired outcomes are expressed in a
meaningful way
· Skilled in developing evaluation models to achieve the desired outcome and the best
value for money
· The ability to attend project board meetings ensures effective communication and
engagement with stakeholders
· Skilled in assessing and managing the risk associated with each activity, developing and
assessing the financial robustness of bidders during the tendering process and post-
award
· Ability to manage your tender using e-procurement tools and contribute to its further
development
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing;
· Highly literate in computer skills, particularly MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
· Highly developed communication skills, the ability to generate insight and value-added
for the customer
