We are recruiting a Senior Engineer to provide specialist professional engineering and technical support to the Highways Maintenance, Traffic and Transport services. Supporting work with Planning applications, Flood risks processes and Network Rail requirements:
Responsibility
To provide specialist professional engineering services and support junior technical support officers in the Traffic & Engineering Service. To provide, maintain, develop, design, implement and pro-actively improve the services provided:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English.
· Degree in Engineering/Transportation, or equivalent four years experience.
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media, MS Teams
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Experience in the various forms of public consultation techniques
· Experience in report preparation and presentation at Committees and other public
gatherings
· An awareness of the environmental issues facing inner cities
· Ability to communicate effectively (both written and orally) and to present complex
information and advice clearly and concisely at all levels.
· Ability to implement and maintain those management and administrative systems
· Ability to develop workable and innovative solutions in problem-solving situations
· Experience in managing and controlling the financial affairs and resources of assigned
projects
· Ability to analyse complex problems and develop strategic, creative and practicable
solutions
· Experience in acting as business spokesperson on Engineering and Traffic matters when
requested
· Ability to draft, coordinate and ensure that all correspondence, enquiries and complaints
are dealt with within response times specified by the Council and the Director
· Ability to prepare budget estimates for allotted schemes and to report, manage, adjust,
programme and control expenditure
· Ability to promote and develop IT systems, including Design and Draughting packages
such as AutoCAD
· Experience in advising senior management on the effects of relevant or draft legislation
and code of Practice
· Ability to assist in the administration of consultants and consultant briefs
· Experience in evaluation of tenders and reviewing consultant’s performance
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· DBS - Enhanced
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
