We are recruiting a Technical Officer to provide specialist technical support on housing standards and home improvement. The business inspects temporary accommodations, including HMOs, and ensures the properties are safe to occupy:
Responsibility
To be responsible to the Senior Building Surveyor for inspecting properties to ensure that they meet required standards and prepare reports relating to property inspections:
Qualification – Essential
· 3 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· HHSRS competent
· NVQ Level 4 &/or relevant experience
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media (AutoCAD desirable)
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Experience in identifying hazards and producing concise, accurate reports detailing any
defects/dangers and the action required to rectify them, including timescales
· Ability to support empty property work and home improvement work as necessary
· Experience in providing a practical, professional, customer-centred response to matters
referred to the team for action
· Experience in Identifying defects in all forms of dwellings (including general building
work, plumbing, electrical systems, and adaptations), specifying remedies, and providing
verbal and written reports.
· Ability to carry out measured site surveys, design and specify repairs and simple
adaptations
· Experience in using Schedule of Rates contract/s, and electronic ordering systems
· Ability to liaise with building occupiers and professionals such as Occupational
Therapists and building control
· Experience in environmental health and safety matters and giving evidence at legal
proceedings and public enquires
· Experience in contract administration, including financial and quality control of works
· Ability to understand the needs of people with disabilities
· Experience in managing contractors on site
· Experience in the preparation of accurate records of property conditions of properties and
preparation of schedules of work required to ensure that set property standards
maintained
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· Enhanced DBS
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
