We are recruiting an Anatomical Pathology Technician to support the mortuary manager in operating the public mortuary. To provide a public mortuary defined under Section 198 of the Public Health Act 1936) which is in line with the Human Tissue Act and Licence requirements Codes of Practice and Standards, anatomical pathology best practice and policy:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Certificate of Anatomical Pathology Technology
· The RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Can prove an ability to lift weights to 15kg
· Able to enter onto a standby rota and work, occasional evenings and weekends when
required
· Willing to become a member of the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technology UK
(AAPTUK)
· Have equivalent to the experience of working full time as an APT (including training)
· Able to demonstrate diplomacy and tact and ensure that relatives visiting the mortuary
are dealt with in a sympathetic, respectful, dignified and caring manner, taking into
account of their cultural and religious requirements
· Demonstrable knowledge of the Human Tissue Act, Authority (including Codes of
Practice and Standards) and Licence
· Demonstrable knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, particularly
concerning a mortuary
· Ability to prioritise your workload
· Demonstrable knowledge of mortuary equipment
· Ability to use ICT, including service-specific software as required
· A good standard of written English and Mathematics to at least GCSE C/ level 4, which
can demonstrate
· Proven ability to work at this level or relevant experience
· Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
· Awareness of Health and Safety legislation and COSHH regulations
· Capable of moving, lifting and handling heavy objects and awareness of manual
handling good practice
· Commitment to high levels of customer service

· Three Years of Reference
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
