We are recruiting an experienced Housing Register, Allocations and Temporary Accommodation Assistant; to support the Housing Register and Allocations service in delivering an effective and responsive service to residents with a housing needs:
Responsibility
To be responsible for daily temporary accommodation placements and promote effective move-on to other permanent housing, including intermediate and social housing:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C)or equivalent to include Maths and English
· BTEC National Diploma, NVQ level 3) or has equivalent demonstrable experience
· Advanced user – Northgate – Academy -Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Proven experience supporting case-by-case allocations of social housing and
maintenance of housing Register and transfer list
· Knowledgeable and up to date with housing legislation, policy, procedures and case law
· Able to source resolution of accepted homeless cases to ensure the service is
responsive to client needs
· Experience in providing advice and guidance to individuals supporting/ directing clients to
access to a broad range of housing options
· Knowledge of making relevant onward referrals and signpost to other services where
required
· Able to demonstrate understanding of the Customer Care Standards and ensure that
these standards are met to deliver the vision of ‘putting our residents first
· Able to provide holistically, informed and accurate housing advice which is “right first
time” to all approaches to the service
· Experience in investigating and assessing all applicants under the Housing Act 1985 and
Housing Act 1996 (Part VI) to assess whether housing is required
· Experience prioritising housing applicants in the appropriate category and banding in line
with the allocation policy and other guidelines
· Able to assist in writing and serving decision letters on all applications
· Experience in maintaining the choice-based letting system, which enables applicants to
bid for properties, including the advertising and marketing of available properties
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, with a wide range of
people, including contractors and other agencies
· Experience in the daily booking of clients into B&B and temporary accommodation
· Experience in supporting and placing households into emergency accommodation,
where homes, including homes for social care services
· Able to encourage and help homeless households in temporary accommodation to
comply with their licence or tenancy conditions
· Knowledge of investigations complaints Members Enquiries and ombudsman enquiries
as required
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· Enhanced DBS is essential
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
