Description
We seek a Council Tax Adviser to join our team immediately and assist with all aspects of Council Tax through the Liability Order. The ideal candidate will have specialist knowledge of Council Tax legislation as the role will predominantly focus on establishing correct liability and eligibility for discounts and exemptions. They will be required to be the point of contact for our Contact centre and partners.
Responsibility
Determine the correct liable party for Council Tax, Business Rates, and BID levy so that all required notices can be issued as soon as practicable. This will be achieved following relevant legislation, case law, and local procedures.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Relevant professional-level qualification
- A high standard of literacy and numeracy
- Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media and CRM.
Essential - Skills, Abilities, & Experience
- Proficient in the use of NEC and I@W processing systems
- A minimum of 5 years experience within a revenues team
- Experience using Northgate and i-World application
- Ability to administer Council Tax and respond to all enquiries in line with legislation and policies
- Ability to negotiate payment plans on Council Tax debt
- Experience in using an electronic document management system
- Ability to identify, signpost and support vulnerable and struggling customers
- Ability to liaise with internal and external bodies
- Able to investigate and respond to Cllr/Members and Complaints within set deadlines
- Ability to process any incoming contacts via phone, email, or correspondence and reports within targets and deadlines set
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including explaining complex decisions verbally and in writing.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload
Essential Compliance Requirements
- Two Years of Reference.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
- A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
