Description

We are seeking an HR Officer to join our team. Your role will be pivotal, as you'll be responsible for various caseloads, including sickness, grievances, and discipline. Your advice on policies, alongside protected arrangements under TUPE Regulations, will be crucial. You'll provide advisory support to managers and engage with employees and trade unions, which will play a vital part in our operations.

Responsibility

To communicate complex issues at all levels appropriately and concisely, both orally and in writing. Good report writing skills. Practical presentation skills for the delivery of training.

Qualification – Essential

  • GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification.
  • Membership of CIPD - Graduate/Member
  • Continuing professional development
  • Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media and CRM.

Essential - Skills, Abilities, & Experience

  • Consistent experience in an operational HR role within a progressive organisation that has been subject to change and keen to apply ‘best’ HR practices.
  • Sustained experience in an Employee Relations operational HR role within a large organisation with a diverse workforce.
  • Proven experience managing and advising on complex cases, including sickness, disciplinary, grievance and equality issues, and supporting at Hearings and Appeals as required.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and recognised ‘best’ HR practice.
  • Experience in TU consultation and negotiation.
  • Be able to effectively communicate complex issues at all levels appropriately and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
  • Specific knowledge and expertise in job design, discipline and grievance, and absence management.
  • Specialist knowledge of an area of HR, such as transfer of undertakings, payment systems, equal opportunities, pensions, etc.
  • Familiarity with information technology for producing reports and managing information.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Assyst
  • Knowledge of HR processes, administration and systems
  • A reliable, discreet, diplomatic, and caring approach to sensitive situations.
  • Able to manage personal emotions and remain calm in complex or uncertain situations.
  • Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Deliver training or make presentations to management.
  • Minimum of two days per week and local travel - Access to a personal vehicle is desirable.

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Two Years of Reference.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
