Description

We are seeking a Non-Medical Prescriber with a focus on substance use treatment. This role offers the opportunity to develop strength-based, safe prescribing plans, ensuring medicine optimisation and the cost-effectiveness of prescribing practice. You will also be responsible for safely assessing and managing medically assisted community alcohol detoxes, contributing to risk assessments and management plans that safeguard service users, staff, and others.

 Responsibility

As a non-medical prescriber, you will be responsible for the clinical management and substitute prescribing (opto-substitute therapy) for a caseload of service users. This includes specialist assessment, collaborative care planning, risk management, review, and evaluation. You will also develop strength-based, safe prescribing plans for substance use treatment that are comprehensive, person-centred, and individualised based on a clear assessment of the service user's needs and circumstances.

Qualification – Essential

  • GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Registered Nurse/Pharmacist qualification and experience in a similar role.
  • NMP qualification level 6 or 7 (if pharmacist)
  • Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media and CRM.

Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Demonstrable understanding of the substance user sector and health issues relating to substance use (including mental health).
  • Experience in clinical leadership, clinical supervision and student mentorship.
  • Experience prescribing within substance users.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of clinical treatment in substance use.
  • Able to develop strength-based, safe prescribing plans for substance use treatment.
  • Experience being accountable for one's prescribing practice and seeking advice outside of competency/knowledge.
  • Able to ensure medicine optimisation and cost-effectiveness of prescribing practice.
  • Able to ensure the safe assessment and management of medical-assisted community alcohol detoxes in line with policy.
  • Able to contribute to accurate, person-centred, individual risk assessments and risk management plans that safeguard service, staff, and others.
  • Able to ensure that prescribing plans are reviewed with the service user and Recovery Worker per organisational policy.
  • The ability to take swift action in response to changes in service users' circumstances to proactively support engagement/re-engagement with prescribing.
  • Knowledge of delivering specific clinical procedures and tasks within my level of training and competency.
  • Able to contribute and, where appropriate, chair multi-disciplinary team meetings/complex case reviews.
  • Experience in targeting clinical and harm reduction interventions to support the achievement of clinical key performance indicators.
  • Experience in taking responsibility for your continuous professional development.
  • Able to actively engage in clinical supervision processes to support learning and development.

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Five Years of Reference.
  • Enhanced DBS Checks are required for the role.
  • A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
