We are recruiting a Structural Engineer to support the Structural Engineering Manager in the delivery of cost-effective, customer-focused Building Control Services – including taking responsibility for service-wide and area-based initiatives that support continued improvement in the quality, price, and effectiveness of the service to support the delivery of the outcomes in the corporate plan:
Responsibility
To support, as directed, the implementation of corporate and workforce development programs within the team and follow and promote corporate governance and compliance requirements. I inspected, monitored, and reported on remedial works for defective building structures, including repairs such as underpinning, strengthening, etc.
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs or equivalent to include Maths and English.
· Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
· Membership in a relevant professional organisation
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media.
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Knowledge of structural engineering practice and procedures, the design and construction
process, Health, and Safety, including CDM, quality management systems, fee
management, project programming and resource planning.
· Knowledge of drawing, including design for bridge and building structures (monitoring and
repairing structural defects).
· Ability to produce good quality work within the fee scale, programme, and cost.
· Able to undertake responsibility for projects.
· Able to develop and maintain expertise in several specialist areas.
· Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
· Understanding of and ability to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and excellent customer
care.
· Good numerical and IT skills, including experience applying planning-related and
geographical information systems (GIS) and Microsoft packages.
· Ability to proactively engage local communities and other key stakeholders in all aspects of
the development and delivery of service.
· Ability to negotiate successfully and influence outcomes.
· Advanced and highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Continuously develops and updates professional expertise and provides positive role
models for personal development aligned with the workforce strategy.
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of References.
