- Our client in North London is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist. To guide and support staff and managers on various casework and deal with employee relations matters, ensuring legislative requirements are met and sound employee relations are facilitated and promoted. Support the development of managers in people management through coaching and HR training as appropriate:
Responsibility
To advise, guide and coach staff and managers at all levels on employee relations matters, including absence, capability, disciplinary, probationary, grievance, conflict resolution, redundancy and redeployment process, change management, consultation (individual and collective), and settlement agreements, following agreed procedures and best practice. This will include supporting managers to resolve the problems and supporting them to develop action plans to resolve the case.
Qualification – Essential:
· GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
· Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational experience
· CIPD membership or equivalent
· Advanced – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media and CRM
Essential Skills, Abilities, & Experience
· Experience working within an HR environment in a Local Government or public sector
setting.
· Experience working in a complex, multisite, unionised environment.
· Experience in advising on organisational change projects, including restructures and
redundancies.
· Successful track record in dealing with complex employee relations issues.
· Experience working in partnership with multiple Trade union bodies.
· Sound knowledge of employee relations issues, including policies and procedures relating to
employee disputes, disciplines and grievances.
· Excellent working knowledge of employment law, ET claims, best practice and the ability to
apply it practically to workplace situations.
· Sound knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues.
· Knowledge of developing effective training materials presentations and delivering HR
workshops.
· An understanding of Safeguarding regarding employee relations matters.
· Advanced ICT skills, Microsoft Office and specialist systems
· Ability to coach and support managers in all aspects of people management.
· Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills; and the ability to build trust
and confidence quickly.
· Ability to write letters and reports.
· Discretion in the handling of sensitive and confidential information
· Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure, personally practical – excellent
organisational skills; ability to prioritise.
· Good research analysis, interpretation and evaluating skills demonstrate the ability to
identify and diagnose problems, issues, and requirements and develop solutions.
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· Enhanced DBS required
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
