- Our client in Essex is recruiting a Senior Housing Solutions Officer– To lead, supervise and monitor a team that works with members of the public to provide a high-quality service to households that may be homeless or at risk of homelessness, ensuring that the critical focus is on maximising opportunities for early intervention and the prevention of homelessness:
Responsibilities:
To manage the integration of the housing options and homelessness process for the benefit of customers, promoting channel shift and electronic case management to promote greater efficiency of service:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSE/O Level, 5 GCSE including English & maths
· Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational experience
· Advanced – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media
Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential
· Knowledge of the impact of national and local policies on the influence of local government
processes, drivers, structures and work practices.
· Substantial and relevant experience in the housing/homelessness field.
· Experience and detailed working knowledge of housing legislation, case law and guidance
for homelessness.
· Experience in assessing and interviewing vulnerable people, extracting sensitive information
and providing excellent customer care.
· Knowledge of activities and techniques to prevent homelessness with the ability to present
innovative solutions.
· Demonstrable ability to lead and manage a team and monitor/review performance against
set targets for both the team and individuals.
· Ability to interpret legislation and recommend policy and procedure changes.
· Ability to analyse complex information concerning relevant legislation and identify the
corrective action required.
· Demonstrate an efficient, flexible, well-organised approach to working with solid decision-
making skills to meet target deadlines.
· Ability to deliver at pace and quickly to tight timescales, balancing both immediate-term
priorities and longer-term goals.
· Ability to deal with complex and contentious cases and make bespoke recommendations to
senior management.
· Ability to work under pressure, with organisational and decision-making skills to prioritise
and re-prioritise.
· Ability to recognise when to seek timely guidance from service managers to prevent
casework delays and escalation of cases and complaints.
· Excellent communication skills (mainly written, oral, and presentation)
· Understanding of budget planning and control.
· Good IT skills, including databases to log and manage information and use mobile and
remote technology to communicate.
· A good understanding of the local community, cultural diversity and the need to adapt
services to enable equal access to services.
· Ability to constructively challenge in the workplace and overcome obstacles and proactively
find solutions.
