We are recruiting a Youth Support Worker: To engage with young people through voluntary participation and building positive relationships in open-access youth work settings. Working in groups and one-to-one to the refreshed Youth Strategy and prevents the need for support from more specialist services/agencies:
Responsibility
Coaching individuals in sports, introducing young people to music production, supporting entrepreneurial potential, teaching photography or filmmaking skills, and having a can-do attitude to deliver a modern, creative 21st youth work offer:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Level 2/3 NVQ JNC recognised Youth Support Worker qualification or
· Professional qualification in Sports/Teaching/Youth Justice
· two years of experience working with young people
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Experience in providing emotional and practical support to young people.
· Working knowledge of the relevant legislation, policy and guidance relating to Children and
Young People’s Services
· Good understanding of children and adolescent development, the importance of peer
influence, and family and environmental factors impacting personal growth and transition to
adulthood.
· Experience planning and delivering engaging activities promoting personal and social
development.
· Able to build positive relationships with young people and their families.
· Experienced in supporting young people to develop their skills and interests.
· Experienced in helping young people to access education, training, and employment
opportunities.
· Able to advocate for young people and ensure their voices are heard.
· Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding policies are followed.
· Ability to engage with and create a rapport, build relationships with young people,
parents/carers, and deal with complex issues sensitively and appropriately.
· Ability to assess risks posed to and by children and young people and propose appropriate
arrangements for safeguarding their well-being and protection.
· Ability to work with children and young people who present challenging behaviour.
· Working Knowledge of understanding of the Children Act 1989, the Crime and Disorder Act
1998, the Data Protection Act, GDPR and other relevant legislative frameworks and
developments.
· Availabletoworkevenings and some weekends.

· Enhanced DBS
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
