We are looking for a committee administrator to provide comprehensive administrative support and constitutional advice to members and officers on the decision-making processes, ensuring high standards of service and governance are upheld:
Responsibility
To work on your initiative, plan, manage and organise workloads to meet strict deadlines and demonstrate good attention to detail. Ideally, with experience and understanding of working in a political environment, you will have solid communication and interpersonal skills and be proficient in IT. The meetings are held in the evening. Therefore, a flexible approach and regular attendance at evening meetings are essential:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in relevant discipline
· RSA2 typing and Minute taking are essential
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Solid experience in committee administration, including responsibility for managing
meetings, producing agendas and minutes, and advising on procedures and guidelines.
· Knowledge of modern and innovative ways of communicating with stakeholders.
· Experience in committee administration in a public body.
· Knowledge of working at a high level with Elected Members and Officers.
· Good standard of education, including literacy and numeracy.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to conduct research and
collect, collate and present information to a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
· Diplomatic and tactful, with excellent customer service skills, able to deal with sensitive and
highly charged political situations.
· Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel, and email systems and to identify and evaluate how IT
can improve the delivery of support services.
· Good organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to set and work to deadlines
and to prioritise workload.
· Ability, willingness to regularly work evening meetings when required, and flexibility to cover
staff.
· Ability to provide cover for colleagues out of core office hours at short notice
· After training will be three days in the office and two days at home; however, flexibility is
required.
