We are recruiting an Environmental Health Officer: - To respond to service requests relating to private sector housing and can undertake Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections primarily. They also need a good knowledge of the associated bits of legislation such as gas safety, electrical, and energy performance:
Responsibility
To carry out inspections, enforcement activities, investigations, surveillance, responding to requests for assistance, education, and monitoring duties:
Qualification – Essential
· Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
· Hold a degree or Diploma qualification in Environmental Health
· HHSRS qualification/experience. - Essential
· Full Clean Driver’s Licence
· Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and social media:
Critical - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· At least two years of experience working in Environmental Health
· Proven numeracy and written communication skills
· Good ability to work within teams and individually.
· Demonstrate commitment to work and adopt the correct attitude to work.
· Able to work unsociable hours when asked to do so.
· Good working knowledge of Environmental Health regulations/legislation
· Proven ability to draft and present evidence.
· Ability to communicate with a wide range of client groups.
· Solid experience in carrying out interviews and making accurate statements.
· Proven ability to keep accurate records.
· Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
· Ability to be tactful and diplomatic when necessary.
· Good organisational skills and knowledge to solve problems.
· Have a solid commitment to quality customer care and service delivery.
· Demonstrate good interpersonal skills/qualities and be able to work as part of a multi-
skilled team
· Ability to respect confidentiality and recognise the importance of data protection.
· Demonstrate an understanding of court procedures!
· Demonstrate experience and knowledge of the use of surveillance techniques.
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
· Full Clean Driver’s Licence
