We’re looking for an Employee Relations Specialist To deliver and contribute to a variety of employee relations cases, providing authoritative advice and support:
Responsibility
To develop and review HR activities in the specialist area, including preparing Employment Tribunal responses and witness statements and managing a high volume of complex casework. To interpret policies and procedures to advise and influence the actions of line managers and assist them in meeting legal, procedural and workforce development requirements:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· A degree or CILEX is preferred; we will consider candidates with appropriate experience
· CIPD qualified or with a postgraduate professional qualification or equivalent in a related
discipline or equivalent relevant experience
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media, and CRM:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Practical experience working in an HR function in an advisory or policy capacity with
demonstrable experience of advising in one or more subject areas, such as discipline,
grievance, sick absence, performance management and redundancy
· Experience in providing HR services in a local authority or other multi-service
organisation
· Experience working in an unionised environment
· Experience in communicating and developing effective working relationships with
managers at all levels and trade union representatives
· In-depth knowledge of employee relations
· Solid experience in a wide range of HR issues
· Knowledge of employment law
· Excellent research, analytical and organisational skills
· Ability to influence and persuade staff and managers in a variety of situations
· Excellent interpersonal skills to create and sustain effective relationships with a range of
operational and professional staff and managers
· Practical written and oral communication skills appropriate to the situation, including
report writing and presentation skills
· Proven ability to work on a large number of cases and projects simultaneously, working
to deadlines and targets
· Experienced in planning and coordinating activities of self and others in the context of
conflicting priorities
· Proven ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure whilst ensuring attention to
detail
· Up-to-date knowledge of HR practices, trends, employment legislation and good practice
· Ability to understand, assimilate and interpret complex information
· Knowledge and understanding of Local Authority terms and conditions are an advantage
· Advanced IT literate – willing and able to use information database / CRM
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· DBS - Enhanced
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
