We are looking for an experienced Housing Specialist to provide support to hospitals for patients that are ready or nearly medically fit for discharge but are homeless:
Responsibility
To be responsible for driving improved outcomes for street-based cohorts and providing transparent and accountable performance data: based within the hospital team, with outreach visits at locations and service hubs best suited to meet the clientele's needs. Travelling to and staying overnight in places away from home may be necessary: The role will require shift planning with other teams and co-locating, where needed:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· NVQ Level qualification or relevant experience
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media, and CRM:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Ability to work in an enabling and empowering way with homeless customers or those
seeking advice regarding their rehousing options
· Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of homeless customers
· Good interpersonal and customer care skills and the ability to communicate effectively
with various people and organisations
· Written work will include letters to customers, carers and fellow professionals, e-mails to
colleagues, reports conveying complex information and seeking decisions
· Ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies from the statutory and non-statutory
sector
· Ability to work with a caseload of vulnerable people sleeping on the street in temporary
accommodation, in service delivery and informal settings
· Experience in building and maintaining new partnership initiatives to achieve improved
outcomes for vulnerable people
· Complete knowledge of Benefits and Council Tax Legislation
· Working knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, as well as housing options
for homeless adults
· Advocating for vulnerable adults experiencing service disengagement and social
exclusion, utilising mediation, negotiation, influencing and persuasion skills.
· Awareness of services available to rough sleepers, homeless applicants and vulnerable
adults and experience in making referrals to both statutory and voluntary agencies
· Experience working with vulnerable adults with complex needs, preferably in the street-
based setting
· Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions within a peer setting and make appropriate
decisions in isolation
· Ability to demonstrate high standards of professional boundaries and safe working
practise
· Excellent time management, organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively
· To work with and be accountable for a personalised budget fund for rough sleepers,
exercising responsibility and sound judgement to achieve outcomes
· Some relevant experience in a similar position, preferably housing or other
homelessness services to vulnerable people and minority groups
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· DBS - Enhanced
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
