We are recruiting a Database Administrator to be a member of the new data team, helping us build an entire data capability by helping to implement and manage the operational aspects of databases:
Responsibility
Responsible for cloud-native, on-premise or hybrid databases. It includes configuration, installation, upgrades, monitoring, tuning, maintenance and documentation of all matters related to the organisation's databases:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Degree and Demonstrable relevant experience
· Power-user –Microsoft Office, Azure cloud services, Apps, Google data centres, CRM,
PM, Social Media
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Agile and flexible working conditions
· Expert in relevant database technologies and methods
· Expert in understanding and applying a range of modern tools and techniques to
manage databases
· Proficient in understanding and using a range of contemporary database software (e.g.
Azure)
· Knowledge of current data practices, including the technologies used, platforms and
services (e.g. CI/CD, CRE, K8 etc.)
· Understanding of information governance principles
· Knowledge of how data impacts business performance
· Understanding of corporate, industry and professional standards, policies, regulations,
compliance and codes of conduct associated with the role
· Experience working in cross-functional teams on shared projects, products and goals,
including defining and tracking service metrics
· Experience building positive relationships with a range of internal and external
stakeholders
· Experience in taking ownership and responsibility for your work, prioritising and
organising work effectively, and operating as a team
· Expert Proficiency in supporting all aspects of the database and appropriate application
infrastructure
· Proficiency in optimising operational resources
· Proficiency in planning and implementing databases and data platform resources
· Proficiency in automating tasks
· Proficiency in planning and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery
environments
· Proficiency in automated deployment, scaling and management of containerised
applications - Desirable
