We are recruiting a Personal Advisor to provide advice, support and help young people in care (aged 16-18) and young adults (18-25) within a multi-agency framework. To contribute to improving their outcomes, support young people and young adults to reach their full potential:
Responsibility
To provide services to young people and adults aged 16-25 who are in care or supported, living away from their family or living independently. To assist them in making positive choices concerning their housing, education, employment, health, leisure and life skills:
Qualification – Essential
· GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· Evidence of further or higher education qualifications, up to Degree level
· NVQ in Child Development or relevant experience
· NNEB, Level 3 Health and Social Care
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Ability to use initiative to address and resolve problems with families
· Good communication skills, both written and verbal
· To be able to work under pressure and to manage situations of conflict in a constructive way
· To be emotionally resilient
· Commitment to working flexibly outside office hours
· Experience working with Children and families in a variety of settings
· Experience in working in partnership with other agencies to achieve identified aims and
objectives
· Experience working directly with young people, young adults, parents and carers
· Experience in working with young people that are difficult to engage
· Knowledge of building relationships with young people/young adults to address identified
needs as part of their care plan
· Experience of team working
· Understanding the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries
· Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and guidance about young people in care
and who are care experienced, e.g. leaving care legislation
· An understanding of the impact of discrimination, diversity and disadvantage
· Experience working with young people moving from care and moving into independent
living
· Experience working with children and young people who may have experienced trauma
and family breakdown
· Experience working within a diverse community
· Experience in supporting 16 to 25-year-old young people with their emotional well-being
and helping young people access appropriate resources
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Five Years of Reference
· DBS - Enhanced
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
