We are recruiting a Nightshift LGV & HGV Vehicle Technician to undertake the service, repair and maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment per legislative, health and safety requirements:
Responsibility
To maintain service and repair on all types of vehicles, plant and equipment as part of the business programmed servicing
Schedule; to include risk assessments, safe systems for work and regular safety inspections on all vehicles (including
specialist vehicles such as refuse/sweepers/PCV vehicles) and plant following legislative requirements and
business policy:
Qualification – Essential
· 3 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent to include Maths and English
· City and Guilds part 1, 2 and 3 in motor vehicle maintenance or equivalent
· LGV class C driving licence
· VOSA MOT tester for class 4 and 5
· Advanced user –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media:
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
· Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake vehicle testing in line with VOSA regulations
· Ability to ensure works undertaken is completed effectively and efficiently and is of a high
standard of quality
· Prove experience liaising with external suppliers for the supply of goods and services to
ensure the best value is maintained
· Solid experience in motor vehicle technology on cars, light goods vehicles, municipal
vehicles and parks equipment
· Solid experience in general fleet electrical work, welding, fabrication and minor repairs on
vehicles, plant or equipment
· Proven ability to provide roadside assistance to broken down vehicles/plant and arrange
recovery if necessary
· Solid experience in general hydraulic, welding and electrical repairs
· Concrete diagnostic repair and maintenance skills for cars, light goods vehicles,
municipal vehicles
· Good experience using computer systems to record work undertaken and check vehicles
' previous history
· Experience working under/on vehicles at varying heights and in confined spaces
· Experience accessing inspection pits via ladders
· Knowledge of managing store areas ensuring stock levels are maintained and
appropriate service/repair items stocked
· Proven ability to diagnose faults found and specify on the job card
· Experience in carrying out seatbelt checks on passenger-carrying vehicles in line with
seatbelt legislation
Essential Compliance Requirements
· Three Years of Reference
· Enhanced DBS
· A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role
